Return 2 the Motherland is a Fela-inspired romp complete with a classy flute line. Side B offers up two gritty rhythmic floor killaz with the standard chunky Mateo and Matos trademark drums. Hankering for some of those MAW-style Fela Kuti-inspired Afro vibes? Step this way please. 'Return 2 The Motherland' kicks off proceedings with standard M&M NY house beats providing the rhythms for a wave of African-vocal parts, male and female, as well as some funky horns. 'The Chant' gets a little fussier rhythmically but otherwise follows a similar formula, while 'Latin Visions' isn't all that Latin, but does shift into a more Osunlade-influenced style. (3 out of 5)
