Kerri Chandler - Street Musiq 1.0 (LAR-075)
Large Music brings in our tenth year of house music history with
a brand new series debut from the legendary Kerri Chandler. Street
Musiq is Kerri's tribute to urban soul and the rhythm of life
on the streets. The series kicks off on Side A with the smooth and
jazzy track We All R 1, followed by the driving spoken word
treat entitled The Fix is U. Side B hits with a wild brazi-lelectro
vibe entitled Carnaval and ends with Kerri's deeply felt
vocal on the
piano-laden cut Tomorrow.
Terry Farley | Muzik (March 2003)
Kerri always tries to fulfil house music's more soulful aspirations
and these four sides continue that tradition. Soul, jazz and Latin
are all blended to create a real NYC block party vibe. An EP that
will be played to death wherever quality is really appreciated.

Russell Deeks | iDJ (February 2003)
Kicking off with the deep and soulful 'We All R 1', this four-tracker
from the ever-dependable Mr Chandler moves through the 'poetry over
deep house beats' vibe of 'The Fix Is U' and the Brazilian flava
of 'Carnaval' before ending with the lush piano-driven 'Tomorrow'.
Only the latter and 'We All R 1' really sit properly on this page,
but hey, it's all good. (4 out of 5)
Frank Tope | Jockey Slut (February 2003)
Four tracks of New Jersey-ness that will drown out deep house baby
monitors for the next few months. The jazz-funk of 'We All R 1'
works best - a gleeful kind of Mizell Brothers-on-two-pills-down-Faith
kinda romp. But, to coin a phrase, it's all good, baby, and, as
long as there are historically-minded gits around chasing the missing
link between Roy Ayers and Paul 'Trouble, Kerri won't go hungry.
Mark Moore | Blues & Soul (#886 28 January 2003)
The first in a series from Kerri Chandler to celebrate a decade
of Large is this four-track EP which takes its inspiration from
urban soul and streetlife. "We All R 1" is the first of Chandler's
quality grooves mixing up disco licks, warm Rhodes chords, jazzy
live bassline, serene strings and a quirky vocal snippet which adds
charm. "The Fix Is U" is another warm groove with female spoken
sermon and a sax solo. "Carnaval" is a dub screaming "party, party,
party" with its upbeat electro and South American vibe with harmonious
voices adding to the feel good factor. Finally, "Tomorrow" is a
vocal house offering with choir-like backing vocals and piano accompaniment
over an upbeat rhythm. "Street Musiq 1.0" is a party on vinyl! (4
