Dennis Ferrer - Soul Collectives Vol. 3 (LAR-074)
If you were fortunate enough to be at the Large Music in Miami
party during this year's WMC, then you are eagerly awaiting this
EP. Dennis premiered two of the three tracks that night with vocalist
KT Brooks performing live on Colors. The wait is finally
over and Dennis Ferrer once again lives up to the hype. This is
the third installment of Soul Collectives and all three tracks deliver
the goods. Colors is a jazzed-out spiritual vocal with spoken
word bits and chunky beats. Side B starts off with Yo Ye,
a deep, moody, afro-tribal workout and finishes with the Latin jam
Palisade Park. This collection is truly one for the headz.

Oh my lordy, stop what the fuck you are doin' and pick the cell
up to reserve your copy of this cut right now. I don’t care if you
are on the job with your boyfriend; I don’t care if you are about
to kiss that beautiful woman for the first time, even if you have
had your eye on her for the last two months. The only reason you
should not pick up the phone is if you have spied a copy of The
Hesitations 'Soul Superman' (Kapp) album in a store for 99p, I'll
forgive you for holdin' off to make a purchase like that. KT Brooks
is the vocalist here and he is blessed with the voice of an angel
and he will send you to heaven and back. The bass stirs the body
into uncontrollable twitching convolutions and the alto sax makes
a grown man wanna weep and raise his hands in praise of the man
called Ferrer, it squeals like a pig baby. The vocal is nothing,
I said nothing short of stunning, the backing vocals are serious,
the subject matter of this track called 'Colors' positive, "colors
make the world go round, round and arooound"! You know that! There
are two other tracks here, but you know what, if you don’t purchase
this jus' on the strength of 'Colors' you don't understand this
shit at all and it is pointless me talkin' to your sorry ass. Totally
tha real deal garage sound and a joy to behold! Don't take my word
for it though, when I played this to Southport weekender DJ Billy
Davidson he simply cried, "Jesus wept, that is the most incredible
thing I have ever heard". You know what’s you got to do. 5/5 Sureplayer
