Kerri Chandler - Digital Soul 4 (LAR-073)
Where would House Music be without Kerri Chandler? We shutter at
the thought! Fans can rest easy, however, as the legend returns
to Large Music for his fourth installment of Digital Soul.
From the Body and Soul influenced Look Inside to the
Tech-House phenomenon of Glitch//Bounce, this is Kerri's
most eclectic collection yet. 2 My Daughter Kerri and To
Cry give us that classic deep Chandler feel while Disko Satisfaction
hits hard as a tribute to true Philly Soul. The highlight here,
though, is Kerri's remake of the John Lee Hooker classic, Driftin',
complete with harmonica riffs and a funky-as-hell bass line.
All tracks performed, produced and arranged by Kerri Chandler.

Following the awesome "Saturday" album collaboration with
Jerome Sydenham comes another wondrous creation and the fourth instalment
in the Digital Soul series from one of NYC's most illustrious producers.
This double pack opens with "Look Inside" rich in Latin
beats with warm soulful vibe, stunning strings and soothing vocals,
"beauty will set you free, music will set you free." Indeed.
"Disko Satisfaction" is a funky Philly soul track which
sounds like a theme tune to a 70's US cop show! The deep brass and
guitar riff perfectly match the black male vocal. "2 My Daughter
Kerri" is a piano gem oozing a deep love vibe boosted by a
lullaby female vocal. "Driftin'" is Kerri's remake of
the John Lee Hooker classic with funky harmonica boosting the superb
black vocal and sexy vibe. "Glitch/Bounce" is more on
the techy tip with solid 4/4 beat and masses of samples and "To
Cry" is more soulful classic Chandler with warming vocal and
twinkling keys. A great package showing Chandler's true virtuosity
across different genres. (5 out of 5)

Kerri Chandler needs no introduction. If he does then its time to
hang your headphones up get out of music, another double thick slice
of quality house grooves to get your ears around. Six tracks that
consist of soulful, uplifting and grinding house, everyone a peach.
As I said no introduction, just enjoy! (8 out of 8)

Stomping open with a delightful set of conga and uplifting percussion
on the first track, legend Kerri applies his proficient dexterity
not just there but throughout this project. 'To My Daughter Kerri'
and 'To Cry' are striking - one senses his deep, heartfelt personal
joys of parenthood. 'Glitch / Bounce' has some tech house implications.
However, most captivating of the double 12" set here has surely
got to be marked down as 'Disko Satisfaction'. Most notably, it
holds reminiscent sounds of his early raw style from the mid-nineties
aligned with his tribute to The Sound Of Philadelphia from two twenty
years prior. Magnificently, this is executed to be daring and exciting
enough to break the tradition club floors now.
