Solar House - Paradise EP (LAR-060)
Wiseblood | Wax | 22. November 2000
Calum Walker unleashes his second Solar House excursion and again,
it's an effortless, masterful release. "Paradise" sashays into the
smoothest of deep disco grooves, all swinging percussion, sweeping
strings, low slung bass, flute and horns, and little bits of spoken
word. "Universal (Part Four)" hits us with gentle Latin flavas,
deep strings, and 80's synthy horns. "Angel" goes into deep vocal
territory, a sublime love song enriched with warm keys and stern
horns with soft strings to sweep in emotion. Beautiful in every
way. 9/10

Three tracks are the make up of "Paradise" EP. The "Paradise" EP
is the follow up to the successful "Universal" and "Got 2 B U" which
are still getting hammered. The first track is called "Angel" and
is deep and jazzy with soulful vocals that reminded me of Lisa Stansfield.
Very Naked sounding track but with it's own identity. Track two
is called "Paradise" and if it has any relevance to the Paradise
Garage the Larry Levan would have been caning this. A nice laid
back little disco number that would make anyone start to strut around
the dancefloors. The last track is "Universal (Part Four)", a cheeky
little Latin flavoured number which is my favourite of the three.
An excellent little package from a LARGE record label.
